I love being able to help my friends plan their weddings. Whether it’s dress shopping, looking through invitations or just showing up and being put to work—I know I’m helping them achieve the wedding that they’ve been dreaming of. That’s a good feeling! So, when my good friend Jane asked me to help out by making a custom guest book for her November 2009 wedding, I was thrilled to be able to be a part of her big day in a small way.

Below are some process pictures of how the guest book came together. Jane planned to put pictures of her and her fiance throughout the book, so she wanted something a little larger than your typical guest book—think album sized. Taking her colors of oranges and purples, I crafted this lovely book. It was the first time I had crafted such a large book! It was also the first time I had tried out the buttonhole stitch. It’s now a new favorite of mine!

Cover in progress :: Fabric and book cloth application; a partially closed spine, with a cute window.

Cover complete! :: decorative paper lining create a surprise inside. Purple paper flanks the white pages to give a pop of extra color through the cover window.

Jane was happy!
